As we end this year we look back at how the goodness of God and Christ’s Light shined through the darkness of the terrible floods our state weathered in March 2019. We at Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska would like to give voice to some of those who were affected by the floods and helped out by our donors and services.
The following are quotes from people CSS helped directly with funding and outreach. May God continue to nourish and sustain them and may we keep them all in our prayers during 2020.
- “We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the generous check to assist with our flood related losses. It will be greatly beneficial in replacing possessions we lost in the flood. We feel very blessed.”
- “It is comforting and reassuring to have the support of one’s community when hard times hit. We are truly grateful.”
- “The money will be used to replace some of my children’s shoes and clothing lost in the flood.”
- “Thank you for supporting small business and farmers.”
- “The flood was a devastating loss and your check was welcome relief.”
- “It is humbling and hard to ask for financial assistance. We are absolutely blessed to have you folks to give us help when we needed it most.”
- “We are still struggling at this time.”
- “Father, there are so many more, and all this aid was possible through Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska. I don’t have the words to thank you for $100,000 received in November. The North Bend Area Flood Relief Committee expanded to include a larger area – Cedar Bluffs to Schuyler, Morse Bluff to Snyder. Your aid will bring God’s peace and love to flood victims at Christmas. We will communicate your impact and never forget the generosity of our neighbors.”
Thank you to all who have partnered with CSS to help many, many Nebraskans with flood related assistance. Your contributions have allowed many to get back on their feet and it is truly amazing to see how God’s love works through the generosity and love of His people. We are all united in the Mystical Body of Christ and when one part of the Body suffers, we all suffer. In all, $587,000 was raised to help flood-stricken parts of Nebraska. The Body of Christ is healing by God’s grace and His loving hands here in The Good Life! Here’s to a happy, healthy, and holy 2020! May we live greatly and may God bless us always!
