Back when I was an undergraduate student at UNL, I learned the greatest asset we have as humans is time. Not money. Not land. Not cars. But time. If we think about it, time is the one asset we are always losing and at the exact same moment we need more of. Time is our greatest asset.
The passing of time was just demarcated by yet another year. Here we are in 2021. How will we use our time to become closer to Jesus? Where is He calling us with the time He has blessed us with?
Did you know that 2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of the existence of St. Gianna Women’s Homes of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska? We are celebrating the year 2021 with thanksgiving to God for our mission, our clients, our Marian Sisters, our staff, volunteers, and our benefactors. St. Gianna Women’s Homes literally saves lives. This pro-life initiative unites people from all over to help mothers and children who are in dire need of Christ’s love.
Celebrate the 10-year anniversary of St. Gianna’s with us!
Recently, Tama Kain’s fourth-grade class at St. Patrick School in McCook teamed up with CSS to help out the women and children of St. Gianna’s. Their class, by their own volition and choosing, wanted to help with a pro-life cause. So they decided to help out St. Gianna’s. They hosted a collection for the women and children of St. Gianna’s at their school and at St. Patrick Parish in McCook. The students made a huge difference in the lives of our residents and indeed the world by collecting personal items, toiletries, household goods and utensils, money, and—most importantly—prayers. These fourth-graders and their teacher are apostles of hope and compassion, and they are role models for all of us.
Employees from our Hastings office traveled to McCook to get the donated goods and funds to help out our St. Gianna’s West program. In central Nebraska we provide apartment homes and rent for women and children escaping domestic violence. All in all through our work at St. Gianna’s in Lincoln and St. Gianna’s West in Hastings we provide comfort, security, and love to 100+ women and children yearly.
In 2021, we are excited to expand our services through St. Gianna’s as we are currently remodeling a donated house to be used as transitional housing in Auburn. Please pray for the success of this endeavor so that we may celebrate our 10-years with expanded services to help out women and children in danger.
God bless those kids in McCook. Thank you, Jesus, for allowing them to live greatly and be role models for us all.
Thank you for your prayers and support of CSS. God bless us always!
