I am excited to announce that this spring’s annual furniture and appliance drive will be held Friday, April 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to noon.
It will be a great time to bring to our main office (located on the campus of our beautiful St. Joseph Center in Lincoln at 23rd and O streets) any items around your home or farm that are not needed. If you cannot drop your items off, please call us at 402-474-1600 to arrange for a pick-up.
For the three other permanent sites across the diocese, you can drop off your items during normal business hours. Here are their phone numbers: St. Francis Gift & Thrift in Auburn- 402-274-4818; St. Isidore Gift & Thrift in Imperial- 308-882-3065; and the St. John Vianney Center in Hastings- 402-463-2112.
Any used furniture and working appliances are needed, along with any other items that help make an apartment or house a home, especially electric appliances in good working order.
Recently, a family in the diocese came to us for assistance. The dad was in between jobs and the family was in need of furniture, as they also recently moved into a new, unfurnished apartment. Since they could not afford furniture they were eating and sleeping on the floor. They were literally weeping when they learned we would furnish their new apartment.
I would like to thank all of our loyal donors who support us spiritually with prayers and penances, financially with cash donations according to their means, and also those who donate material items as described above including other things such as food, clothing and vehicles! There is nothing like giving away a car to a family when one of the parents is in need of a car to drive to work and take their children to school or to the doctor’s office.
May the risen Lord Jesus Christ bless you abundantly during this Easter season and beyond! May the prayers of the Immaculate Heart of Mary our Blessed Mother lead us closer to His Sacred Heart each and every day!
