I trust most of our benefactors know about Gianna’s Java & Gelato, located on 23rd and O street on our beautiful St. Joseph Campus, which serves handcrafted gelato and delicious coffee and food (Click here for slideshow of photos!).
I trust you also know that our equipment is from Italy, as well as the ingredients for the gelato. What you do not know is that our gelato chef, David Walbrecht, who was trained to make gelato from scratch, just received advanced gelato training.
As the executive director of CSS, I have made the sacrifice of quality control moving forward (meaning helping with taste testing). It is a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
The advanced training was held at the American headquarters of Pre-Gel (the famous Italian Gelato company) in Concord, N.C. Dave drove out with his wife, Pat and stopped at many places in the South including Irondale, Ala. at EWTN.
After this southern trek, we decided to hold an event, called “Southern Style Dinner,” where we will showcase some of new types of gelato along with authentic southern flare foods. This includes a Carolina barbecue (including pork and brisket), baked beans, cheesy corn muffins, corn on the cob, sweet tea, and, of course, new gelato flavors.
We will be holding this fun and flavorful event Saturday, Aug. 6 starting at 6 p.m. sharp with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $30, all you can eat, and must be purchased in advance. There will be plenty of parking, but space is limited to 93 persons, so we encourage you to register early!

Please remember that all of the proceeds of Gianna’s Java & Gelato are used to help abused women who are escaping abortion and domestic violence; to aid individuals and families in avoiding and escaping homelessness; and for grants for individuals who cannot afford the full cost of counseling services.
Please let me remind you that Masses and prayers are offered for you, your family and intentions. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us, Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Joseph, St. Gianna and all of our patron saints, pray for us!
